Meet Brooks.
This little guy had a few medical issues after birth; therefore, his newborn session occurred a little later than usual. ?He was close to 10 lbs when I photographed him. ?I was 9 lbs. 6 oz.’s as a newborn and my mom had a natural birth–holding a baby that weighed around this weight made me extra appreciate of my mom. 🙂 Brooks was such a cuddle bug and I loved holding him in between poses.
?I love that bigger babies sleep so well and Brooks was no exception. ?We started the session outside in the backyard for some family shots with Brooks wearing his baptism gown (that was also worn by his father). ?The rest of the images were taken inside in the family dining room as this is where the lighting was best with larger windows.
When considering newborn photography for your son, it is best to wait 5-7 days after the circumcision (if you choose to do this) to allow for healing. ?Since we had to wait longer than normal for Brooks’ session, I decided to go ahead and do his session (vs waiting another week) and keep his diaper on as his circumcision had occurred later than normal and was not fully healed yet. ?I used little pant sets, diaper covers, and wraps during his session that allowed me to still pose him in newborn poses.
Congratulations on the arrival of Brooks! ?I can’t wait to see him grow over the next year.
