Newborn Ellison’s Photography Session (Mauldin, SC)

I was amazed to see how much strawberry blonde hair this sweet girl had when she was born! ?Meet Ellison, Ellie for short. ?Her mother and I first met while working at Grove Elementary. ?I am always honored when friends ask me to photograph their families, especially when they trust me to photograph their newborns.

I photograph newborns in their home as I like to capture them within a few weeks from their day of birth. ?This also means that I never know what space or lighting I may have to work with in each family’s home. ?When I started this session, the sun was behind the clouds but as soon as I set everything up (not an easy task), the sun came out and created harsh light on my bean bag. ?Luckily, we were able to use a white sheet to put over the large window in their living room to create a softer light which worked beautifully and saved me time from moving all the blankets and backdrop stands. ?Ellie’s mom had a cute embroidered onesie that we photographed her in before we took portraits in her birthday suit. ?Once we got this sweet baby to sleep, she did wonderfully.
