newborn boy wrapped in golden scarf

Baby Sajan wrapped in his father’s scarf.

This was one of my favorite newborn sessions this year! ?Neetu and Sima are absolutely gorgeous and their first son, Sajan, is adorable. ?The first family images were taken in their backyard. ?The light filtering through the trees made for a wonderful backdrop and it was surprisingly warm that early afternoon so we headed outside. ?So often parents ask what they should wear for the images taken with their baby. ?I always recommend neutrals that compliment their skin tones. ? This keeps the look simple and warm. ?You will notice that the parents are both wearing matching bracelets. ?These were given to them at a baby shower and their tradition is that they keep the bracelets on until they naturally fall off–the deeper meaning behind the bracelets is that it keeps the unborn baby healthy. ?Love it!

Sajan did wonderful for his newborn portraits. ?Newborns often go through a growth spurt around 5-7 days so he had several feedings during his session; this is why I will plan 2-3 hours for a newborn session. This allows for plenty of time for feedings and getting the newborn back to sleep. ?We incorporated several props that Sima had picked out including the beautiful traditional scarf that I used for a wrap.

I cannot wait to deliver the 20×30 canvas wrap Sima ordered of baby Sajan!

I hope to see your little guy again within the next year 🙂
